Chinese Community Hall Hire Grant 2025-2026
In May 2026,
The Department of Premier and Cabinet Victoria approved a grant under the
Chinese Community Hall Hire Program 2025-2026 to the Hong Kong Club Tai Chi
Group. This grant is administered by the Multicultural Affairs Portfolio within
the Department.
The funding
is for the purpose of supporting venue hire costs for the following activities:
weekly tai chi classes, workshops, end of year celebrations and AGM. It is for
the duration from May – Dec 2026. The broad objective of the grant is to
support Victoria’s Chinese community organisations to celebrate and share the Club’s
history and traditions, build Chinese community network and open opportunities
for social and cultural connections.
The Hong
Kong Club Tai Chi Group is grateful for the funding support and thank the
Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The funding
will support the continuity of the tai chi activities within the Club and
provide opportunities to expand our membership and variety of programs offered
through the Club.
Boroondara Annual Community Strengthening
Grants Program
In October 2025, in conjunction with
the Rotary Club of Balwyn, the Boroondara City Council through the Annual
Community Strengthening Grants Program approved partial funding to the Hong
Kong Club Tai Chi Group for the purpose of holding the Club’s Open Day on 18th
July 2026.
The financial assistance helped
facilitate the delivery of activities conducted on Open Day such as equipment
purchases, venue hire, promotional material and stationery.
The Open Day was well attended with
over 100 attendees. Promotion of the event attracted interests with new members
joining the Club in the following term.
Julie Mulhauser and Li Tan from the
Rotary Club Balwyn attended the event. They were introduced to Tai Chi
practices, participated in the general exercises and met with the senior
instructors and committee members. Julie proceeded to invite senior instructor
Sam Au and honorary member Angelina Chung for an interview to gather more
information about the Club and its contribution to the benefits of its members
and the Boroondara community at large.
