TCG Duan Wei System Development - Apr-2019

TCG is developing a TCG Duan Wei system for members.

This TCG Duan Wei system will be integrated with our current grading system.

Sam will give a brief explanation of the proposed system and answer questions this Saturday, 6 April 2019 at 10.30 am. Therefore, therefore will be No Qigong practice.

Congratulations to WTQA Festival Participants

Our Fan team and individual competitors all performed wonderfully in the WTQA Festival held recently on 26/8/18.

Many of our competitors won medals:
·  James Au won gold medals in Chen sword 54 form and Beijing 45 form.
·  Albert Chan won gold medal in Beijing 24 form and bronze in Beijing 45 form.
·  Martha Hui won silver medal in Beijing 24 form.
·  Emily Au won silver medals in Beijing 24 form and Beijing 45 form; and bronze in Sun 73 form.

Genevieve Summers and our Fan Team narrowly missed out on medals.

Alexis and Eddie performed well as judges.


Sam’s demonstration went well and received a service award from WTQA.

If you are unable to attend class, please inform your class instructors or let the Committee know by email.   

Please note if members were absent from class without apology for three (3) consecutive weeks or more, the Committee may consider that the members do not want to keep their positions in their class. 
Please let your class instructor know of your planned leave.

New TCG time table for 2018 Please note that there will be a number of changes to the TCG time table for 2018: 

- Classes will start 15 mins earlier at 8:15 am.

- There will be Tea break at 10:30 to 11 am with Qigong at around 10:40 am for 15 mins. Tea break time is considered to be important for announcement and catching up.

- There will be a number of changes to Sifu Raymond Au's classes:

- At 8:15 am: 24 form review class will not have Qigong - reverting to what we had before, Qigong at tea break time.

- At 9:45 am: 45 form class- introducing new form.

- At 11.00 am: 88 form review class (for those who have learnt or have started learning 88 form)

- Minor changes to class time after Tea Break.

Result of resolutions at the AGM

Members voted against the name change. By majority, members voted in favour of retaining the existing name of our association "Hong Kong Club Tai Chi Group".

The Special Resolution did not proceed as the first motion was not passed.

After progressive exclusions and distribution of preferences, the name Hong Kong Tai Chi (Group/Club/Association) has been selected as a potential new name for consideration by members at the 2017 Annual General Meeting.

WTQA Competition - Sun 28 August 2016

A number of our members participated in the recent WTQA Competition held on Sunday 28th August.  Alexis Kwok and Sam Au helped with judging.  Sam also performed after lunch break.  Six of our members participated in the competition and they all did very well.  The results are as follows:

TCG is trailing a library service at front foyer between 9.00 am and 10.00 am.  Members may borrow or return books and DVDs during the period.   

If members would like to volunteer to assist or have suggestions to improve the library service, would like new DVDs or books added to the library, please discuss it with Winston Lau or Sam Au.  

Winston is the Committee member responsible for library service.

Sat. 15/11/14 - Outdoor training at Beckett Park, Balwyn (Melway 46 G7)
Enter via Parring Rd off Whitehorse Rd.  
Current time table.  BYO snacks, drinks, chairs as required.  
As there is no shelter at the park, classes will be cancelled if it is raining.

Wushu, Tai Chi & Qigong Australia (WTQA) competition on 30th August 2014 at Monash University
Result of group team event: 

The Sun 32 Team won silver medal out of 10 teams competing. Team members were: 
Ady Lo, Jenny Bryans, Anne Moran, Emily Au, Pat Young, Shirley Fung.
The Sun team was coached by Susan Berryman.

The Hao 32 Team achieved a fourth placing score. 
The Hao team was coached by Sam Au.
It is very encouraging that a number of first timers competed in both teams.  Congratulations to all the first time competitors.  Several members also competed first time as individual.  Congratulations to them too.


Result of individual event:
•James Au again won the Best Male Taijiquan award, and 2 gold medals (Wu and Hao style) and one silver (24 form)
•Ady Lo won two gold medals (Hao and Sun) and one silver (24 form).
•Edward Yong won two gold medals (42 form and fan).
•Jenny Bryans won one silver medal (Sun) and one bronze (Hao).
•Emily Au won one silver medal (Hao).
•Henry Wong won one silver medal for Wu style taijiquan.

Fantastic results by TCG participants at the WTPA Competition

Under the individual category:
  • James Au won 4 gold medals and was declared the 2013 Competition's Taijiquan Champion
  • Edward Yong won 1 gold medal
