Background of Hong Kong Club Tai Chi Group Inc.
In July 1987, Sam Au and a number of Hong Kong Club members established the Hong Kong Club Tai Chi Group. Sam Au’s father Mr Jason Au was the inaugural instructor teaching the Wu style Taijiquan. Classes were initially held outdoor at the Doncaster Secondary School.
As the number of students grew over the years, classes were held in the school gymnasium on Saturday morning.
In July 1997, the Tai Chi Group moved to the current Balwyn location. In May 2006, the Hong Kong Club Tai Chi Group becomes incorporated and is now an independent incorporated association run by a committee of management elected by its members.
The Hong Kong Club Tai Chi Group Inc. currently has more than 10 classes of 4 different styles of Taijiquan. In addition to normal classes, workshops and social functions are organised during the year. Members also participate in grading and competitions.
