There will still be Qigong practice in the main hall for those not planning on doing Grading or Duan Wei assessment.

Easter Saturday Outing 20th April


There will be no Tai Chi class on Saturday 20th April, during the Easter long weekend.  Instead we will have an outing starting at the Finns Reserve, Templestowe, walking to Westerfold Park.

Time:  9:30 am ~ 11:30 am

Place: Finns Reserve, Templestowe Road & Union Street, Templestowe Lower VIC 3107. 

Meeting Time and Place:  
If interested, please meet around 9:30 am near entrance of Wombat Bend playground in Finns Reserve, Templestowe Lower.

Parking:  
There are parking spaces along Duncan Street in Finns Reserve. 

What we will be doing:  

We will have some warm up and then walk along the Main Yarra Trail to the Porter Street BBQ area in Westerfold Park.  We will have a rest there at the BBQ area.  There are toilets at Finns Reserve and also at the Porter Street BBQ area.   We could do a bit of Tai Chi there at the Porter St. BBQ area.  Then we will walk back to Finns Reserve.  The walk should take about 45 minutes each way .  It is paved walk/bike trail all the way from Finns Reserve to Westerfold Park.  There are some hilly sections but the walk is mostly flat.  For those interested, we can have lunch at a nearby cafe afterwards.

Labour Day Outing to Darebin Parklands

Time 9:30 ~ 11:00 am

Meeting Time and Place:  
If interested, please meet around 9:30 am near Separation Street entrance of the park.

Parking:  
There should be parking spaces along Smith Street.  Please check parking signs though.

What we will be doing:  
We will have some warm up and a walk around the park.  The walk will take around 1 hour.  If we can find some good area, we can do some Tai Chi along the way or after the walk.  Afterwards, members may choose to go for a coffee or lunch in restaurants or cafes near the park.  The park is not hilly and should be a comfortable walk for person of average fitness.  

Things to wear and bring:  
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor.  Runners or walking shoes are suitable.  Do have sun protection (i.e. sun hat and sun screen).  You may also would like to bring water and some snack.  

Weather or issues:  
If weather is bad or other issues, then we will have to cancel.   If weather is not too bad but there is a chance of showers, we will still go ahead.  Please text or call Sam on 0418-101-937 if not sure.   If you decide to go, when there is a good possibility of wet weather, you should have appropriate waterproof clothing and shoes for walking in wet weather.

Please register with Committee members at front foyer this coming Saturday or otherwise by email.  Please let us know your contact phone number so that we can contact you on the day if needed.  

Car Pooling:  Some members may need a ride to the park.  If you can give someone a ride to the park, or if you need a ride there, please let Committee members know during registration. 

Update on Jan 2019 Workshops

Due to hall booking issue and lack of interest resulting in low booking numbers for the 42 Sword workshop, Committee has decided to cancel the 42 Sword workshop on 19 Jan 2019.

The Health Qigong Yi Jin Jing workshop on 19 Jan 2019 and the Nordic Walking workshop 28 Jan 2019 will still proceed.

Time: 9.30 am
Tai Chi Practice / Walk: We will have Qigong and Tai Chi practice starting at around 9:40am, and then have a walk around Westerfold Park.

Kew Festival, Sat 10 March 2018

Kew Festival Wellness Day Outdoor Practice CANCELLED

On 10th March, Saturday of Labour Day long weekend, there will be no Tai Chi classes at the Balwyn Evergreen Centre (BEC).  TCG planned to participate in an outdoor practice session at the Kew Festival Wellness Day.  

Regrettably we were informed by the organisers of the event that it has been cancelled.

As a result, please be informed that there will be no Tai Chi classes at BEC on Sat, 10 March 2018

Holiday Practice at Beckett Park & Nordic Walking

Holiday Practice at Beckett Park

During the holiday period, Sam Au has organised practice sessions on Monday 10 am - 11:30 am, at Beckett Park, Kew (except for public holidays, and weather permitting), starting on 18 December.

There are different parts of Beckett Park that people can practice Tai Chi and weather may not be suitable on that day, so please message or contact Sam on 0418-101-937 beforehand if you intend to attend.

Nordic Walking

Sam will also be doing Nordic Walking during holiday period on Wednesday 9:30 am in parks near Balwyn area.  If interested, please contact Sam on 0418-101-937.


Workshops on 20th Jan 2018











1. Taijiquan 45 form (selected from 88 form)

Saturday, 20th Jan 2018, 9.00 am — 12.00 pm

This 45 form is selected from Taijiquan 88 form. This form is suitable for performance at competi-tion or for a shorter practice session. For those who have completed 24 form, this workshop will be an introduction to the 45 form.

2. Health Qigong Wu Qin Xi (Five Animal Frolic) 健身气功五禽戏

Saturday, 20th Jan 2018, 9.00 am — 12.00 pm

This is a group of physical and breathing exercises for improving health and well-being with a uniquely traditional Chinese flavour. The movements are comparatively simple and easy to remember and can be practiced by people of different age groups and physical fitness levels.

Grading Day, Sat. 4th November

Grading day will be held on the 4th November.   Grading is a good way of improving your form and achieving a level of competency and you may wish to work towards being an instructor. There will be a charge of $25 per form. The responsible instructor will help the member to review the form before grading.

TCG Name Change



The Committee is proposing at the possibility or having a new name for TCG.    The selection of a new name is currently underway. Members have submitted a range of possible names which will be selected by members via a simplified preferential ballot system. 
Having decided on the most popular name choice, members will be asked to vote at the AGM: 1)if the name change is to proceed and 2)approve the new name. 

Note that the motion for the name change is a special resolution which requires a 75% approval vote by members present at AGM, including proxies, for the name change to be passed.

30th Anniversary Celebration Event



30th anniversary celebration will be on 8th July at Balwyn Evergreen Centre.   

Performances and demonstration by special guests will form part of the day program from 10:30 am to 12 noon.  




Following the program, there will be a 30th anniversary lunch from 12:30 – 2.00 pm. The lunch will be fully catered with Malaysian dishes plus other delicacies.  

Cost of lunch is $10 per person. If you wish to attend the lunch event, please register with Membership Secretary Connie Tat, latest  by 1 st July 2017.
