Tuesday 6th November, 2012, 10:00 amJells Park (Ashes Picnic Area), Wheelers Hill Jells Park turned out to be unexpectedly popular on Melbourne Cup day. Some of the Committee Members got to the park before 9:30 am but the shelters around the Ashes picnic area had already been taken. But we managed to get a couple of picnic tables with shade. We practiced some Tai Chi and then started lunch. Even though there was a brief moment that we had a light shower, that did not dampen our enthusiasm at all. We had a fantastic time with lots of food. Susan's curry heated up with a small portable gas stove was a highlight as well as salads, cakes and other yummy food. We had a good walk after lunch even though we did take a wrong turn and walked longer than expected. We eventually found the cafe up on the hill overlooking the Jells Park lake. Some decided to have a coffee, ice cream or other refreshments and relaxed in the cafe with the nice view for a while. |
