There will be two separate workshops on Saturday June 6 conducted by two of our senior instructors.
Bafa Wubu of Tai Chi, Eight Methods and Five Steps ( 太极八法五步 ) – Sifu Raymond Au
Tai Chi "Eight Methods and Five Steps” is based on the core commonalities of the five schools of Tai Chi - Chen, Yang, Wu, Sun and Hao. It incorporates the eight techniques and five basic steps of Tai Chi that form the foundation of all Tai Chi Movements.
** This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced Tai Chi practitioners of any disciplines.
Time: 9am to 12pm Cost: Members $60, WTQA members $60, Non-members $70
Tai Chi Push Hands Workshop (Level 1 & 2) – Sifu Sam Au
Discover the art of balance, sensitivity, and effortless power in our Tai Chi Push Hands Workshop.
Level 1 – Learn the essentials with single-hand and double-hand push hands techniques. Build stability, coordination, and the ability to yield without losing your centre.
Level 2 – Explore the classical Peng, Lu, Ji, An sequence, blending the four core energies into smooth, flowing partner work.
**This workshop is perfect for beginners and those refining their practice.
Time: 9am to 12pm Cost: Members $60, WTQA members $60, Non-members $70

BBQ 02/05/2026
There has been interest among members of having another BBQ like the one we hosted two years ago. The committee decided to have one before the weather gets cold.
Date: Saturday 2 May
Time: 12 noon (normal classes in the morning)
Venue:BBQ area outside Balwyn Community Centre, 412 Whitehorse Road Surrey Hills
(450 metres from BEC – about 6 mins walk)
Cost: $5.00
We will provide meat and bread. You are welcome to contribute salad or dessert/sweets for sharing. The BBQ area has a water fountain. Please bring your own coffee or tea if you prefer a hot drink.
It is a good opportunity for members to socialise.

Special notice
We have received confirmation form Balwyn Evergreen Centre that the renovation is near completion and they are moving back in June. That means we will be able to return to the centre on Saturday 7 June and resume our classes as per the normal timetable for Term 1.

It incorporates the eight techniques of Tai Chi, Ward off, Roll back, Press, Push forward, Pull down, Split, Elbow strike and Lean, as well as the five steps of Advance, Retreat, Guarding, Looking Forward and Determination.
** This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners.
Time: 9am to 12pm Cost: Members $55, WTQA members $55, Non-members $65
Yang Shi Tai Chi Fan 36 – Sifu Susan Berryman
The 36 form Yang Style Tai Chi Fan has inherited traditional fan skills and possesses the basic characteristics of the Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. It is smooth, graceful, slow and even paced. It has a rich content and simple structure and its movements are from simple to complex. The routine calls for the fan being guided by consciousness, an integration of body and fan. It enhances physical fitness and cultivates pleasant temperament in today's fast-paced life.
**This workshop is suitable for students who practice Yang style Tai Chi, 18 Tai Chi Fan or any other Tai Chi Fan routines.
**It is also suitable for those who had practised this form in the past and would like to refresh their skills.
Time: 9am to 12pm Cost: Members $55, WTQA members $55, Non-members $65
